A rich and fertile territory, the Umbrian Valley constitutes one of the most evocative contexts of the region, both for the beauty of its panoramas and for the presence of towns of great historical-artistic interest due to the presence of true masterpieces of Italian art. A real surprise is the town of Foligno with its noble palaces and rich heritage of frescoes.
Programme:
Day 1
Arrival in Foligno and accommodation in a 3* hotel. Visit to an oil mill on the DOP Umbria Oil Road to discover the secrets of oil pressing. Aperitif: tasting of bruschette with oil, cold cuts and cheese accompanied by Montefalco wine. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel. We reach a winery for a lesson in Umbrian home cooking: the preparations include a complete seasonal menu (5 recipes) that will be tasted at lunchtime in combination with 4 wines. The lesson includes a visit to the cellars, a booklet of recipes and a certificate of participation. In the afternoon, a walk through the streets of the historic centre of Bevagna, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Possibility to visit the Mercato delle Gaite, a perfect reproduction of ancient mediaeval trades. Return to Foligno and overnight stay.
Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel and checkout. Departure for an ancient estate near Trevi. Walk through the estate, which preserves the remains of a Romanesque church, and start the truffle "hunting" experience in the company of expert truffle hunters and faithful hound dogs. Truffle tasting lunch including hors d'oeuvres, the inevitable truffle egg, first second course and dessert.
