Once in the heart of the San Pellegrino mediaeval area, you have free access to the Museum of the Facchini di Santa Rosa, where the operator, in addition to handing out a souvenir gadget, will explain the history of the Transport of the Macchina di Santa Rosa (UNESCO Intangible Heritage Site with the Network of Large Machines).

The Popes' Palace is a massive construction that, from Piazza San Lorenzo, overhangs the Faul Valley with mighty buttresses. It ends with the imposing 'Conclave Hall'. The Palace's facade is adorned with rectangular battlements placed exactly at the bottom of the roof pitch. Next to the large portal is a more modest opening, also with a round vault, which is accessed through a balcony and through a gate gives direct access to the balcony of the loggia, right next to the exit of the 'Conclave Hall'. The Piazza can be reached by a convenient free lift in the Colle del Duomo, which leaves from the Valle Faul car park; or from the Sacrario car park in about 10 minutes on foot along the streets of the Historical Centre.
